Accelerated Resolution Therapy & EMDR
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an innovative approach to trauma treatment and other mental health disorders. ART works more rapidly than other forms of therapy, therefore it’s brief and effective nature make it one of the best options for the treatment of post traumatic stress injuries. During ART sessions, clients recall traumatic events, and the therapist facilitates recategorization of the memories over the course of 1-5 sessions. The results are amazing as clients no longer experience intense recollections of memories or other disruptive symptoms such as panic attacks, flashbacks, or nightmares.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an empirically based and effective trauma treatment method proven to help people recover from PTSD, PTSI, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. It was originally developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro in 1989 and has a basis in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. EMDR is an 8-phase treatment protocol where the client fully processes past experiences and sorts out the emotions or core beliefs associated and attached to those experiences. EMDR therapy focuses directly on the memory and is intended to change the way that the memory is stored in the brain, thus reducing, and eliminating the problematic symptoms. Within 1-3 sessions, negative thoughts and feelings that are no longer useful are replaced with new positive thoughts and feelings. This results in healthier behaviors and symptom reduction or alleviation.
